As United Methodists, we believe that faith is a journey, both personal and lived in community-juntos-together. Our faith stirs in us a desire to be active in the world, working for good and for God.

Our faith is rooted in these commonly held Christian beliefs:

1. There is only one God who is revealed in three distinct persons: God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit–or if you prefer, Creator, Christ, and Companion

2. The mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ:

– God became fully human and fully divine, self-revealing in the person of Jesus of Nazareth, the living Word of God.

– Jesus’ life, death, resurrection and ascension demonstrate God’s comprehensive unconditional love for all of creation.

3. The Holy Spirit is God at work in our world and in our lives.

4. All human beings are made in the image of God, with no one being superior to another and with each one of us containing the sacred fingerprints of God.

5. The church universal is the hands, the feet, and the heart of Christ in, with, and for the world as change agents of God. :

– The church is made up of the communion of saints: a community of all Christ-followers, past, present, and future.

– The church worships God together, nurtures each other in faith, and supports one another in this life and the next.

– The church is called to be active in the world working with God to transform the world.

6. The Bible is foundational to our faith. It is the inspired word of God, containing everything necessary for salvation through Christ. As we study the Holy Scriptures, privately or together, the Holy Spirit helps us relate these ancient texts to life’s present realities.

7. Death is not the end of our stories. There is a new and everlasting life in communion with God that awaits us after our lives in this life are over.
